The Titanic Game

Why

The purpose of this exercise is to help participants identify how they would escalate problems in an agile organization. In traditional companies, managers “solved” problems, irrespective of whether they were the real owners of the problem. So, it’s naturally scary for them to hand over that responsibility to teams. Team members, too, are used to this old escalation model and need to unlearn it. In this exercise, all stakeholders are involved in a discussion about what can be done when things go wrong. Teams and managers role play and experience different ways of solving an issue – in a no-risk environment.
